Munich was the starting point of Hitler’s career; it was also the cradle and self-proclaimed capital of the Nazi movement. With the construction of the “Haus der deutschen Kunst” (“House of German Art”), the Führer’s house and the party building, the honorary temples for those killed in the Hitler putsch and other buildings the Nazi’s tried to rebuild Munich as the “capital of the movement”.
Some of these buildings are still standing; others were fortunately never constructed. This tour illuminates the darkest chapter in German history and the (difficult) legacy of National Socialist architecture and art in Munich.
